Title: Chained
Fandom:
apurgatorium, SaGa Frontier, Damienverse
Pairing: Cosmas/Asellus
Rating: G
Notes: Bawww I miss this pairing.
His hand is plain now. Slightly scarred with a chemical burn and a bit of a mishap with a knife, but otherwise, completely plain and undecorated. Considering the nature of his other half, he had no doubts that it would remain that way; this was nothing but an advantage to him, offering him a portion of the freedom he had craved since the start of his existence.
Several months and an unintentional mistake later, he realized that the hand wasn't going to stay that way for much longer. Day in and day out, he had no idea as to how to react to the fact that soon, it would be adorned with gold. Worse, that it had been his decision, not Damien's, to make it so.
A chain in the form of a band of metal. Something he had sworn never to get; what was the purpose? Why demolish his freedom, why lock himself down at the age of twenty-six when there was still so much more to experience, to do?
Then he sees the glitter of a gem, jewelry hanging from her neck. She never takes it off, so he can't not think about it. His amazing, spunky, powerful little half-Mystic---but most importantly, his. And then he understands. He realizes this possessiveness, and he's not a fool enough to think that it's one sided. He realizes that he can't bring himself to look at another person; he's since learned that pesky "guilt" thing and he can't bear to see her in tears again.
He loves her and he hates her for changing the creature that he had always been. It was simpler before, the thinking always left to Damien, and he hadn't a care or worry. But now he cares for her and worries about her and damned if he ever wants her out of his sight.
Maybe it isn't so bad, he thinks. He could have chosen a lot worse, and there's something about how she's changed him that he really doesn't mind in the end. Ultimately, being human held as many possibilities as being a monster, he supposed.
If he has to be chained, he prefers that it be with gold. It's a precious metal, and he won't settle for anything less.
